The line ‘人间四月芳菲尽，山寺桃花始盛开’ comes from Bai Juyi’s Tang dynasty poem Dalin Temple Peach Blossoms 《大林寺桃花》. It beautifully captures a moment of delightful surprise: in the lowlands, April has already seen all the fragrant blossoms fade, yet high up at the mountain temple, the peach flowers are just beginning to bloom in full glory.
This theme of unexpected discovery perfectly mirrors what happened with our Peach Blossom series in ceramics — another lovely ‘unexpected glaze surprise.’
